چکیده

In this contribution we present analysis and simulation results on controlling TCP rates by buffer allocation When segment loss is low TCP throughput depends primarily on the TCP window size and the round trip time of the connection As a result it is possible to control TCP rates with FIFO queuing We present a buffer management policy called Differential Fair Buffer Allocation that provides loose rate guarantees to SACK TCP sources when the sum of the MCRs is significantly lower than the network capacity We study the performance of differential fair buffer allocation by simulation Source Rohit Goyal Raj Jain Sonia Fahmy Bobby Vandalore Shiv Kalyanaraman Department of CIS The Ohio State University and NASA Dreese lab Neil Ave Columbus OH Phone Fax Email goyal jain cis ohio state edu Sastri Kota Pradeep Samudra Lockheed Martin Telecommunications Astrolink Broadband Network Lab Borregas Avenue Samsung Electronics Co Ltd Bldg B O GB Samsung Telecom America Inc Sunnyvale CA E Arapaho Richardson TX Email sastri kota lmco com email psamudra telecom sna samsung com Date September Paris France Distribution ATM Forum Technical Working Group Members AF TM Notice This contribution has been prepared to assist the ATM Forum It is offered to the Forum as a basis for discussion and is not a binding proposal on the part of any of the contributing organizations The statements are subject to change in form and content after further study Specifically the contributors reserve the right to add to amend or modify the statements contained herein

Rohit Goyal, Performance of Tcp/ip over Ubr+ 1 Title: Performance of Tcp over Ubr+ Distribution: Atm Forum Technical Working Group Members (af-tm)

ATM switches respond to UBR congestion by dropping cells when their buffers become full TCP connections using the UBR service experience low throughput and low fairness For TCP throughput each switch needs buffers equal to the sum of the window sizes of all the TCP connections Intelligent drop policies can improve the performance of TCP over UBR with limited buffers The UBR service consists of ...

Title: Tbe and Tcp/ip Traffic Distribution: Atm Forum Technical Working Group Members (traffic Management)

The effect of TCP traffic over ATM ABR is studied with the ERICA switch algorithm. ABR implements its rate-based traffic control at switches (via ER algorithms like ERICA) and at sources (via source rules, such as, Rule 6, which uses TBE parameter). TCP implements its own traffic controls via slow start window control. We study the interaction between the two mechanisms. In particular, this con...

The Generic Cell Rate Algorithm ( GCRA ) 7 3 Leaky Bucket Admission Schemes

The ATM Forum has recently defined a new data service called Guaranteed Frame Rate (GFR) Service. This new service aims to support minimum bandwidth guarantee for a VC and allows any excess bandwidth in the network to be shared among the contending VCs in a fair manner. It was proposed that the service requirement of GFR may be supported using the Generic Cell Rate Algorithm (GCRA), or equivale...

In ATM networks, the Guaranteed Frame Rate (GFR) service has been proposed to accommodate non-real-time traffic with packet size not exceeding a maximum length, such as TCP/IP based traffic. The GFR service not only guarantees a minimum throughput at the frame level, but also supports a fair share of available resources. In this article, we propose a buffering strategy called Intelligent Fair B...
